The Crown of Europe
The Crown of Europe consists of the highest peaks of each European country; totalling 50 countries but 48 peaks. This difference is because both France and Italy share the summit of Mont Blanc, while Albania and Macedonia share the peak of Mount Korab.
The highest one is Elbrus (5,642m) in East Russia. This often comes as a surprise as many people don’t realise that Russia also belongs to Europe. The border between Europe and Asia goes through the Ural mountains, which are located in east Russia, therefore the part of the country lying east from the mountain range technically still constitutes as Europe.
The range of the Crown of Europe stretch from tiny little hills, such as the smallest one in Vatican City (75m), through to a number of one-day hiking peaks and onto even more technical and high mountains. Due to this wide variety, there is a peak for everyone no matter what your physical abilities are. So come and join me on this journey!
