Next Trip
My aim is to hike the highest peak in each European Country. There are 50 countries and 48 peaks, from the smallest one in Vatican City to the highest one Elbrus in Russia. There will be a peak for everyone, regardless of your ability! We are looking for young at heart people who are up for meeting good company, hiking, a good laugh and a pint of beer or two afterwards.
Next up is Albania and Macedonia. The plan is as follows:
13 June: Thursday evening – flying out to Tirana, the capital of Albania, landing after midnight and going straight to a hotel to sleep.
14 June: Friday – wake up around 9am (can be flexible), sightseeing Tirana, leaving no later than 4pm and heading straight to the mountain, Macedonian side. Unfortunately it’s a long drive, 200km. Google says it’s 4.5 hours but we should count 5 with the stops and my slow driving. Staying overnight by a lake near the mountain.
15th June: Sat – the hike day! It’s a fairly long one, about 4-5h to the top, then probably similar amount of time down, but it’s considered an easy hike. I would expect it to be similar to Ben Nevis (but longer) or Mulhacen in Spain. I even saw some pics with a bike on top (crazy!), so can’t be too bad. After the hike we’re driving south to Orhid (about 2.5h), a nice town by a lake where we’ll stay overnight.
16th June: staying in town, we will have a couple of hours exploring the town. We will then head back to Tirana (2.5h drive) and if the time allows we have some time to explore Tirana again. Then heading to the airport for ~6pm (flying out any time after 8pm)
What is the Cost?
Cost: £165 which covers 3 nights accommodation, car and petrol. We’ve got 9 spots in total with only 3 remaining, as usual first come first serve, so if you want to secure your spot, contact me here and I’ll send you the details for the transfer.
